Coleg Cambria is offering flexible HN courses that let students study around their busy lives.

Following the success of the HNC Flex in Business at Northop, the college is now offering a wide range of HN units at its campuses. Developed with Pearson, the HN Flex courses allow learners to study at their own speed with guidance from skilled tutors. These qualifications are just as valued as traditional Higher Nationals but offer more convenience and flexibility for modern learners.

Emma Hurst, Dean of Access and Higher Education at Cambria University Centre, said HN Flex is an important step for higher education in Wales. She added that students should not have to choose between their personal life and learning. HN Flex courses let students study when and where it works best for them, while still getting good teaching, recognised qualifications, and career opportunities.

From 2026, new HN Flex courses will include Cyber Security, Innovation and Digital Transformation, Professional Practice in the Digital Economy, and Programming. Courses in Construction and Hospitality Management will also be added. Students can combine small units to earn a full qualification.

The new digital and technology courses let learners gain skills, retrain, or start higher education while managing work and family.

Learners receive support from Cambria’s staff at the Wrexham, Deeside, and Northop campuses to make studying easier.

Funding is also available for some students through local programmes to help with expenses.
