Background

Singapore Institute of Management Global Education (SIM GE) has launched Project 1095, a structured initiative designed to give students a fully rounded university experience across all three years of their programme.

The initiative takes its name from the 1,095 days that make up a standard three-year degree. Co-curricular activities are thus not seen as extras, maybe not even as electives; they are paradigmatic of student life apart from academic study. Students at SIM GE can participate in any of the 80+ student-led clubs which include sports clubs and arts clubs and cultural clubs and special interest groups and student governance groups.

Through Project 1095, the students have become part of an environment where they can learn by actually participating in activities related to organizing events, managing projects, and leading teams. The students work in committees, collaborate with other stakeholders, and complete their projects from start to finish, acquiring skills that cannot be acquired through classroom learning alone.

SIM GE says the framework also addresses student well-being by helping people build genuine connections on campus. The institution recognises that a sense of belonging plays a direct role in overall student success, particularly within a diverse student community that includes both local and international students.

The initiative also responds to what employers are looking for. Companies increasingly look beyond grades when assessing graduates, and SIM GE aims to produce students who are confident communicators, capable team players, and adaptable professionals.

By embedding co-curricular engagement into the very structure of university life, SIM GE says it wants every student to make each of those 1,095 days count — not just the ones spent in lectures.
