Background
Bangkok is getting one of the UK’s most well-known schools. Wycombe Abbey prepares to open its international school in the Thai capital in August 2026, adding weight to Bangkok’s growing reputation as a top education destination in Asia.
The school comes to life through a three-way partnership between Wycombe Abbey, BE Education, and Rabbit Holdings, a subsidiary of BTS Group Holdings Public Company Limited. The tie-up brings a historic British academic name into one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing education markets.
Wycombe Abbey goes back to 1896 in Buckinghamshire, England. The school builds its name on strong British curricula, covering IGCSEs and A Levels, while pushing students to grow as thinkers, leaders, and global citizens. Its reach already extends to Hong Kong and Chinese cities, including Changzhou, Hangzhou, and Nanjing. Bangkok is next, with Singapore and South Korea lined up after that.
The Bangkok campus sits near Thana City on Bangna-Trad Road and stretches across more than 66 acres, placing it among the biggest international school grounds in the city. Students get access to an Olympic-standard swimming pool, FIFA-standard football field, tennis and golf facilities, a full athletics track, and a 1,000-seat stadium. The school takes students from Nursery all the way to Year 13, covering ages 2 to 18, with both day and boarding places on offer.
Thailand’s international school market is already sizeable, serving between 70,000 and 80,000 students across more than 250 schools. The sector carries a value of over 80 billion baht and grows at close to 10 percent each year.
On the academic side, Wycombe Abbey has sent 28 percent of its graduates to Oxford and Cambridge over the past ten years. Across its international campuses, 74 percent of students gain entry to QS Top 50 universities around the world.
